Two Summer Kids Float Above the Fields

At the ball field up by the township building, out behind the recycling dumpsters, the chain link fence by the dugout ends with sudden hollow pipes filled with yellow jackets. They congregate on the outer rims for the warmth: like the timber rattlers on the rock slides up the ancient hills above us.
